Puerto Plata is a Northern Dominican Republic province. The area has become an increasingly popular tourist attraction since the late 1990s mainly due to its fine beaches as well as to meet friendly people. Gregorio Luper�n International Airport (also known as Puerto Plata Airport) has daily flights to most North American cities. The inner transport system doesn�t seem to as good as it should be, the best choice is the minivan, GWA-GWA, even the deprived organized it is. If you are looking for tourist stuff (paints, rum, cigars, t-shirts, etc.) the best place to go is Sosua, about 10-15 minutes from Puerto Plata.
