About Dunedin:
Dunedin is a casual city, framed by hills and ocean, with a notorious wild streak. The world’s only “mainland breeding colony” of albatross pit-stop yearly at Taiaroa Head to procreate and update their website (http://www.albatross.org.nz/). The distinguished residents of Otago Peninsula include seals, sea lions, and many species of birds – among them the Yellow-eyed Penguin, somehow claiming distinction as being the shyest and most endangered of the penguin family. The wild side doesn’t end in nature, however. The University of Otago inflicts an aura of youthful vivacity on the town, while the effects of a frenzied gold rush in bygone days are evidenced in the remarkable Victorian architecture.
